  • A type of trap introduced in James Robinson Planché'smelodrama The Vampire; or, the Bride of the Isles in 1820 atthe Lyceum Theatre. Consisting of two spring leaves or flaps in acanvas flat, it was used to create the illusion of a ghostor other supernatural character passing through a solid wall.
