  • A video card which incorporates a chip, and which accelerates and enhances the video-handling performance of a system. A video accelerator significantly speeds up the updating of the images on a screen, which also frees the CPU to take care of other tasks. Especially useful, for instance, for displaying three-dimensional graphics. Also called video accelerator board, video accelerator card, graphics accelerator, or graphics accelerator card.
