- A communications channel, such as that provided by POTS, whose bandwidth is sufficient to adequately support voice telephony. data transmission is limited to a bandwidth of a few kilohertz at best, and may be used, for instance for dial-up Internet access or fax. Also called voice grade circuit, voice-grade line, or voice channel (1).
