  • A computerized system which receives and records incoming telephone calls, and which may also perform other functions, such as message forwarding. A caller hears a recorded greeting after a given number of rings, and may have the choice to leave a message, talk to an operator or other person, or, in the case of an account holder, access and manipulate messages after entering the appropriate code. Also spelled voicemail.
