Warrigal greens

Definition

Food

  • One of the first plants, Tetragonia tetragonoides, to be found by Joseph Banks when the Endeavour came into Botany Bay in 1770. The arrow-shaped leaves are like spinach but firmer and they need to be blanched before use to remove some of the oxalic acid. The young leaves have the best flavour.
