# wattless power

## Definition

### Electronics

- The power in an
__AC circuit__which cannot perform__work__. It is calculated by the following formula:=*P*·V·sinθ, where*I*is the power in watts,*P*is the current in amperes,*I*is the voltage in volts, and sinθ is the*V*__sine__of the__angular phase difference__between the current and the voltage. Also called reactive power, idle power, quadrature power, volt-amperes reactive, or reactive volt-amperes.
