waveguide directional coupler

  • A device which couples a primary waveguide system with a secondary waveguide system, so that the energy is transferred to the waves traveling in a specified direction, and not to those traveling in the other direction. Also called directive feed.
  • A waveguide device which extracts a small amount of the energy flowing in one direction, while ignoring that flowing in the other. Used, for instance, to monitor power output.
