- A piece of buttered toast covered with a thick cheese sauce made from a white roux, milk, possibly ale, French mustard, Worcestershire sauce and seasoning mixed with an equal weight of grated Cheddar until smooth, and the whole browned under the grill. The sauce may be kept in a refrigerator until needed.
