  • A standard cell used as a reference voltage source, in which the positive electrode is mercury, the negative electrode is an amalgam of cadmium and mercury, and the electrolyte is a solution of cadmium sulfate. It has a voltage of approximately 1.0186 at 20 °C. Also called Weston cell, or cadmium cell.
