Wien's displacement law
Definitions
Astronomy
- (written as Wien’s Displacement Law)Law prescribing the way in which the frequency of the most intense emissions from a hot body increases as its temperature rises. The maximum frequency in hertz equals absolute temperature multiplied by 5.88 x 10-10.
Electronics
- A law which states that for a blackbody, the wavelength of maximum radiation is inversely proportional to its absolute temperature. Also called Wien's law.
