World Theatre Season



  • An annual theater festival in London for foreign plays; itran from 1964 to 1973 with a revival in 1975. Sir Peter Daubeny (1921 - 75)founded the event as part of the celebrations for the 400th anniversaryof Shakespeare's birth. Works were presented at the Aldwych Theatrein their original languages by such renowned companies as the Comédie-Française,the Moscow Art Theatre, and the Abbey Theatre, aswell as companies from America, Sweden, South Africa, Uganda, turkey,Greece, India, Israel, and Japan.
