written question

Definition

Politics

  • noun a question presented to a minister in writing, usually dated two days after it is presented and answered within seven days of that date. If an answer is needed by an earlier date the question receives priority and is known as a ‘question for answer on a named day’, indicated by the letter N in the Order Book. However the answer may simply be that the Minister will answer the question as soon as possible.
