Construction

  • Nearly pure ductile iron with a very small percentage of silica throughout. Once the surface iron decomposes, the silica surfacing prevents further oxidation. True wrought iron is no longer commercially available.
  • A number of easily welded or wrought irons with low impurity content used for water pipes, tank plates, or forged work.
